The news headlines are increasingly regular and alarming: parents attacked by their children, adolescents beating up their teachers, abuse of fellow students at school... What’s going on? Is this a new problem or an old story which is finally being brought to light? Is our society too permissive with young people? Is this an unprecedented crisis in values in the world of education? Are our children copying behaviour learned from an increasingly violent society? And above all: what can we do to combat the problem?
The author’s professional interests have been focussed on two subjects: he has developed programs for preventing antisocial behaviour in children and young people and also worked to understand and treat the most implacable and systematically aggressive criminals.
