Challenges of preservation ex situ

Original title: Desafíos de la conservación ex situ

Ítalo Tamburrino

Category: Fiction
Synopsis:

Preservation ex-situ is defined as the set of strategies to care for and preserve a
species outside its natural habitat. This can apply to animals and some kinds of plants, however, these short stories demonstrate that preservation is not the exclusive domain of animals and plants; it also includes humankind.

A man whose allergy to cats gets worse every day; an employee at a wind power plant who discovers a series of dead bats; a pack of dogs called ‘Charlie’ whose fate is a terrible death; and a lamb called Santiago who is accused of causing the death of a woman are just some of the characters in this collection. The world that once was run by humans is about to change owners because animals are slowly taking back what the most destructive species has taken from them.

Based on his experiences as an environmental biologist, the author writes several stories that describe the relationship between humans and animals. In the end, both can be savage and fearless.
